Thumbs up Quality of herp forums

So..I often check out other forums to see what's going on and what people are posting about. Lets just say that bp.net blows them all away. One in particular, while providing a valuable service is a haven for scammers, immature children and lunatics. Unfortunately it has gone downhill quickly through the banning of quality contributors because they wouldn't follow the ridiculous rules that the members must follow but the mods (and owner) can freely break at will.

Its nice to have a community like this that is all about helping others, promoting a real herping community and treating people with respect. Thanks to the owners and mods here for making this forum what it is, the best out there.

I'm with you there!! Although I've browsed many-a-forum in the past few years, This is the only forum I've ever really posted on more than a couple times. It just has a good all-around feel.

    Re: Quality of herp forums

Well I'm very biased but I agree, this is the best place around. I always feel sad when a new person joins and in their first post they ask to not be slammed or flamed for not doing everything perfectly. How awful that people get treated like that elsewhere on the internet. Sure sometimes we get tough on folks here if they have all the information and still won't be give their creatures good care but thankfully that's fairly rare.

I'm proud to be part of a forum that is so family friendly. I know my kids can come here and I love that Lars and his mother are both members....how cool is that! We do have a fair few rules around here but in the end, the result shows....a good forum that encourages respect for it's members, respect for the herps, lots of knowledge, friendship and hopefully a good bit of fun.

No matter what Admin and Mods do though folks, it's all about the members. On a daily basis you make or break this forum and it's heartwarming to see how good you've made it!

    A big for all our
    ~~Joanna~~

    Re: Quality of herp forums

HEAR HEAR!!!!!!! And U don't mind the guests!! I was a guest once or twice before deciding to join.

I have < scratch that---HAD > been a member on a non-herp forum, and because I didn't jump thru the hoops, and then voiced displeasure to the admin, I've been called a lurker and other not-nice names. Sorry, but I had enough of the p***y, snooty, drown-in-a-rainstorm cliques in high school, thank you very much!!! and just because I don't log on once every 30 days, doesn't mean I'm a lurker and malcontent (like I was accused). May those 30 "wonderful" ppl get fleas in their armpits

More power to 'em....I'd just as soon stay where I'm made to feel welcome and can have fun learning new skills and ideas for better snake care!!!!!! And get to know such GREAT ppls!

I've really enjoyed the chance to read and "get to know" all you guys! And it's ALWAYS entertaining (to say the least! ) hee hee hee hee
