Introducing Our New Snake.....Morty Watson!
In response to JLC, I am formly introducing ourselves to this site...
My name is Michael...my gf is Amy (username-amy) and we just purchased a normal BP last friday.
So we are newbies to herpatology.....but I am not new to Biology or genetics....
I used to be a research technician at a University of Pittsburgh. There I worked on mouse models of disease....I also managed a mouse colony for awhile there. Since I dont work with mice on a daily basis anymore I dont smell like snake food....
Through part-time grader and tutor I got interested in teaching....right now I am working on teaching certification and a masters degree.
My gf got me interested in BPs by showing me all the cool morphs available.....
At first I didnt think she was serious about owning, but after bugging me and doing the research on care (using this site)...she convinced me that this was a pet worth owning.....
Our snake is named Morty Watson....Watson after the co-founder of the DNA double helix structure James Watson. Morty because Amy likes it!

Re: Introducing Our New Snake.....Morty Watson!
Welcome to the forum! BTW, great name for your snake.
While I'm at it, this question should probably be on the other thread, but I was wondering about something that may be related to the Spider. Do you know of any specific dominant traits that are incompatible in homozygous form? Not just with snakes, but with any species. People have suggested that this may be the case with the Spider as nobody has come out publicly to say they had a homozygous Spider.

Welcome to the forum Michael and Amy! Lovely little BP you have there. My only suggestion considering he's just a little fellow is to make sure he's eating an appropriate sized prey item once per week for a few weeks straight before you handle him much. As with any snake, you want to deal with feeding issues first before working slowly on getting him used to being handled, as handling is more about what you want than what your snake really needs.
BP's will teach us patience LOL.
