    Retained eyecap? and other questions.

does this look like a retained eyecap? you can see it on the right hand side, she has it on both sides so it leads me to believe that it's not but i've never seen that before, she's very nippy will have to get her to calm down a bit, she's ok to be handled but dont come at her when she's being handled she'll strike lol.....she's gonna be fun to work with, she's struck at the glass at me several times when i'm in there, i'm like just go in your hide if you're stressed, but she stays ontop of them as you can see and she's being a pain lol.....i have a ton more pictures up there ifyou guys want to look at her, she's very dull right now, guy i got her from says she'll brighten up a whole lot after a shed, this cage is temp.... i'll be putting some bedabeast in the bottom to help hold humidity and give her a sense of security....it's heated by flexwatt underneath....as i said it's all temporary... hides were a last minute thing, at sams for free so can't pass that up and the hiding holes were already cut in there just set in the cage hehe......i want to get her used to feeding in another enclosure so she doesn't associate us putting our hands in there as a time of feeding, just like i do with my RTB.... only problem is i dont know when to feed her, i dont know the last time she ate but she's quite plump very fat belly hehe.....still need a name

She looks like she has some bluing on her head, and like you said she is dull.

She is probably getting ready for a shed, most BP's get nippy/defensive when they are about to shed and dont like being handled, their eyecaps should go with the shed. I wouldnt call them "retained" until after she sheds and if you still think you see that.

well i'm not talking about on her head, that's probably from the flash......i'm talking look into her eye look at the bottom right of the eye, looks white like a scar but i can't tell it's on both so i thought maybe retained eyecap or maybe it's the way the BP's are, i can't remember it's been so long since i've had a BP. my Judas is in shed, and he's an angel all the time, but he knows who feeds him too
but you can see more of her here i need a name for the poor girl that's probably why she struck at her

It's possible that it is a retained eyecap. Hard to say for sure from the picture. My gopher snake had that problem in his first couple sheds with us, and when it happened, the eyes looked perfectly clear after the shed, but around the edges of them was kind of a raggedy looking edge.

Both times it happened to him, he got the caps off himself after a couple days. So long as you're not dealing with an extreme case of multiple caps built up over a long period of time, I personally think it's far safer to just let the snake deal with them on her own. She'll probably rub them off eventually, but if not, they'll come off with the next shed.

well other than blue eyes it's hard for me to tell when a snake is going to shed, esp. her....my judas his belly goes blue, and his skin's all wrinkly so i know how his is....but i was told she's about to shed, hence the color change she's much duller than usual....ao hopefully pretty soon maybe today i'll add the bedabeast in there so she can get the humidity she neds i should do the same thing for judas but putting some in a 75g aquarium that's alot, maybe 3 bricks lol, stupid glass tanks
