Eye Issue
Well Bunta ::my python:: has been in its hide alot till the other night where i saw him roaming around. i just noticed that there were stuff i cant identify on its eye. I called the person who sold him to me and told me it should brush off. the thing is i dont know how to do it or should i take it to somebody?
Thanks

Re: Eye Issue
hmm.. do you mind taking picture? is it one eye or both?
definately, DONT BRUSH THE EYES!! these are eyes.. not skin ;/
well, im not expert but it depends on whats on the eye if its skin from "unsuccessful" shed? usually they would use duct-tape but that also can harm your python.
from what i've learnt from this site, i know alot of experienced people would tell you to wait for the next shed, raise the humidity level. if it doesn't come off. then a visit to the vet is recommended

Re: Eye Issue
Duct tape is a big no no when it comes to any reptile. Use scotch tape if you think its a retained eye cap. If you are inexperienced, then I would not advice you to remove it yourself. Just provide the correct humidity that the snake needs and it will remove itself during the next shed cycle. Retained eye caps won't hurt your snakes so there is no need to worry about it.

Re: Eye Issue
Personally, I would not go the tape route at all. Take a wet washcloth and gently swirl around the eye and see if any of that "stuff" comes off. It may be something it just rubbed against. If it's a retained eyecap, it should come off at a bit of rubbing. If it's a dented eyecap, it's just the result of low humidity and shouldn't be a problem. Otherwise, if it's like some odd looking infection like thing, you should definately get it to a vet.
