    New Girl has a Name

Well, thank you all for your suggestions on names for the new girl (pet shop find).

Much to my surprise, Karl - who is supportive of my passion for the ball pythons, but really doesn't wish to interact with them - asked me if he could name her. I figure anything to get the big guy more "invested" personally is a good thing, and I was touched that he wanted to name her. So, he asked for the weekend to think of a name for her. I waiting anxiously, because I really hoped he didn't pick a "silly" name.

He just told me that he'd like her to be named Sarah. Amazingly, it seems to fit her gentle disposition! I just looked up the meaning, and it's Hebrew for Princess. Perfect for my new princess!

Anyway, I think Karl did a great job naming her and she is no longer Ms. No Name!

Awwww that's awesome! I think if my hubby ever asked to name one of my snakes, I'd just be in heaven! (Because like you said, that makes them that much more emotionally invested.) And yes...I think Sarah is a wonderful name for a lovely royal python!

Oh what a lovely gentle name Robin and such a perfect meaning! I'm glad Karl asked to name her....that's a definite step forward for him. I bet Sarah will be the BP that gets to him, it just takes that one special snake to hook somebody LOL.

Re: New Girl has a Name

I'm very pleased with his naming of Sarah. You're probably right, Jo! I noticed him peeking last night as I was doing some tidying in her enclosure and had to pop her out for about 30 seconds.

As much as he's NOT interested in the snakes, I do have to give it to him that he is supportive of MY passions, and didn't even blink an eye when I announced that there was a big ball python at the pet store that I planned to purchase if it was female.

He has said on several occassions that he really hopes that I'll stick with this hobby. The only thing I DON'T share with him is how much I'm paying for the snakes, and enclosures and racks and thermostats - etc. I think he'd have a heart attack! But it's my money, and as long as the house hold bills are paid first, what he doesn't know won't hurt him! LOL
