Weird behavior.
Gem's in shed, pink belly started yesterday. I didn't realize this until i took her out. So she's chillin with me and i notice her acting a little different. She was basically looking at me with the S for a while, i picked her up from the back and handled her till she chilled out. Also someone walked into my room and she immediately got into the S and striked the air twice. I have never seen her do this....
Temps and humidity are perfect, shouldn't be any husbandry problems.
Do they get like this when they're going in shed? I remember reading something about this but i'm not exactly sure.
Thanks!

Re: Weird behavior.
It's normal.. when in shed they are more defensive. It is best to just let them alone until the shedding process is over. Don't want to stress out your baby.

Re: Weird behavior.
I thought it was kinnda funny accually, when my mom walked in she striked and my mom freaked. Snakes are good watch dogs.
Thanks shelby.

Re: Weird behavior.
It's just the shed process and quite natural for the snake to feel defensive or need to be in their hide even more than normal. Picking up the snake right now won't comfort it, it will only stress it out even more. Just push the humidity up a bit to around 70%, provide the usual clean water and so forth and leave the snake be. Daniel's sticky on the shedding process is wonderful and will help you recognize the signs and the basic timeline of a normal shedding cycle.

Re: Weird behavior.
It was just strange becasue she's now shed for me twice before, and never had this behavior. But its normal so i'm just questioning the normal....which i do way to much.
Thanks again.

Re: Weird behavior.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I beleive the reason they are more defensive. is that thier vision is unclear because of the cloudiness, and they could perceive other moving objects as predators, so naturally they would be more defensive, also I hear that they feel really itchy when in shed, so consequently they light be a little uncomfortable and grumpy.
