    RB racks.

I just put in my order for the Reptile Basics Iris Sweaterbox rack! Does anyone else out there use these, if so how do you like them? Later today I will be ordering my Helix Thermostat to control this rack, and the hatchling rack that I will be working on over spring break this next week.

I ordered this sweaterbox rack because I had heard great things about RB racks, and I want to finally get my Balls out of glass tanks. Plus this 4 slot rack leaves two open slots for adult balls....so what does that mean...well...I'm looking into picking up an adult CB female to go with Shogun next year. And the other open slot will be for the future pastel male. Oh how things are progressing...I love it!

According to the website the new racks will be shipping out on the 15th if not sooner...so 1 to 2 weeks from now I'll have my new digs for the little ones!

    Re: RB racks.

I seriously considered buying from Reptile Basics, but there were two things that made me decide not to. Back heat rather than belly heat and 4 high rather than 5 high.

I'll be ordering my rack, with the divider options from the guy at HerpEnclosures that Vaughn recommended. A 5 high rack with belly heat and the optional dividers that can house 10 snakes up to about 800-1000 grams. By this summer I can order another one and start moving snakes into bigger "digs".

I am, however, purchasing my Helix from Reptile Basics. In fact, just placed the order for it yesterday. Rich is a great guy!

I'm not sure what we'll end up going with or just build our own as out of 6 BP's I have only 3 under the 1,000 gram mark and one of those is Saoirse who should easily pass that once she starts eating after her winter fast. The other 3 are well over the 1,000 mark (1200, 1700, 2200) so I would like them in good sized tubs that will last them a long time.

Sounds like you're going to need Boaphile's Ballroom Rack if you don't build your own first, Jo!

    Re: RB racks.

I have three RB sweaterbox racks. The back heat works fine for me and my snakes, but I do prefer belly heat. Four high is good, because you can comfortably stack three of these racks to a 6' high stack, but with five slots high, you could only stack two comfortably really.

What is the pricing on them? After seeing that Freedom Breeder is just under $100/per it doesnt make sense for me to buy anything else.

    Re: RB racks.

The price was $224.99 shipped. $100 per level is a pretty good deal, but I have no where near 10 snakes to keep at the moment or $1000+ to drop on caging. If I did I would've bought my pastel male by now, and just made a rack with the leftover money. Maybe I'll go with FB someday if breeding takes off, but now I'm still in the beginning of the process and wanted to get my snakes out of glass caging.

I figure I'll try it out, I've heard good things about them so....if I'm not happy with it I'll save up for a few ball room racks from the Boaphile.

    Re: RB racks.

Keep in mind, a level for FB is 3 tubs, not 10. Its about $280 per level or so. Good luck!
