Brown Mouse vs. White Mouse
Has anyone out there had better luck with darker colored mice (browns and blacks) vs the white lab mice for their BP to eat?
I have read that some picky eaters prefer the darker colored mice? Is this true or utter bs?
Snakes are good to keep the in-laws out of your house
0.1.0 Ball Python
1.0.0 Butter Corn Snake
0.0.1 Leopard Spotted Tortoise
6 Hermit crabs
5 sickly cats!!!!
...and a partridge in a pear tree!!! (ok, I know that was retarded)

Re: Brown Mouse vs. White Mouse
I have one girl who is a bit picky. I've noticed her preference for mice over rats, but not over color. Of course it's not outside the realm of possiblilty.

Re: Brown Mouse vs. White Mouse
Sharazad likes the white ones. I think, and I could be wrong, but since she was raised on live (and she won't even touch F/T now....grrrrrrr) her feeding response seems to be tied to movement and I think she can see the white ones better.

Re: Brown Mouse vs. White Mouse
Mine don't have preference on color, but they prefer ones that serenade them. J/K...
I've found that my female is the picky one of the trio....she tends to have a stronger feeding response only for small white rats...I've put in tan, brown, and black hooded rats and she seemed disinterested, so I always feed her whites.
I'm not sure what it is about color, but for her I guess that's the trick.

Re: Brown Mouse vs. White Mouse
The only one we have with a distinct preference is Saoirse the wild caught. We were warned that since she once was out there hunting and would likely have never seen an albino prey item that it might be a problem. She will only react to darker colored rats....put an albino in and she totally ignores it....replace that rat with a black hooded or black berkshire and Saoirse will eat (when she's not on winter fast that is).
