thawing?
well as feeding day is soon and having read a few things some have done when it comes to their methods of getting food ready for their gang i thought it would be interesting to have it all in one post on the ways people thaw out their rats/mice when using F/T to feed.
me:
i take out the # of small rats i need, place them in a zip-lock bag put them in frig the night before, take them out place them in HOT water getting them nice and warm then feed.
(not the best way to do it, i do admit at times)
never seems to fail while i have them in the hot water to warm the phone will ring and i end up putting in more hot water ....
others???

Re: thawing?
I take a piece of tupperware, fill it with hot water and drop the rats in there. No plastic bag. I put in hotter water when it starts to get cool and feed when they are fully defrosted (no hard chunks in the stomach area). I always feed wet.

Re: thawing?
I place mine in freezer ziplocks. Then submerge in warm water. Let sit for a couple hours, then put hot water until nice and warm. Then serve.

How very Wolfgang Puck of you. You almost made them sound appetizing to me.

I Put Mine In The Micowave.
That's the way it goes when you have no arms to blow your nose.

Please tell me this is a joke. In any case, this is a thread to help newbies with their thawing techniques and is not appropriate. Snakes are not designed to digest cooked meat, which they would be if they didn't explode. (at least partly) And ewwww.

Re: thawing?
I have a largeish plastic bin that I put the rats and mice in, then put it in the bathtub and fill with hot water. I refresh the hot water until everything is warm all the way through. Pinkies and small mice/rats are put into a ziploc to prevent me losing them down the drain, but everything else is put straight in the water.
