    Bottled water?

Hey everyone I was wondering, since the pet stores have water conditioners and we are supposed to replace our reptiles water daily, could we use bottled water instead of regular fosset water from our sinks? I know ill have to replace the water daily still but would bottled water be better?

Unless you have horrible tap water (visible rust, noticeable smell) I think tap water is fine. Replacing daily isnt necessary. Once per week with a thorough scrubbing of the bowl is sufficient.

    Re: Bottled water?

We have a on-faucet water filter, so we use that.

Our local water is fine but I prefer it filtered, and the snakes get what I drink

I second the on-faucet water filter. I've seen my snake out taking a drink alot more with the cleaner water than when I had straight from the tap well water.

I use bottled, but I use it for myself too. I don't like or trust the tap over here. Some of my other animals get tap just because they go through water too fast for me to keep up, but the snakes get the same Aquafina I drink when I haven't refilled the Brita, lol.

Cleo will generally go for a drink when it's first put in the enclosure... I guess she likes it fresh! (we replace it daily).

    Re: Bottled water?

Funny but for the first time this weekend I saw Damian drinking. He has put his head over the water and smelled with his tongue before but on Saturday I actually saw him gulping it down. He stayed that way for a good 45 secs. I could see his jaw moving and his throat swallowing it. Looked pretty cool. He gets plain old tap water with a couple drops of reptisafe.

Rick that picture of the snake drinking is a must for the BPOM! How absolutely lovely and regal it is.

Please remember do not give your reptiles distilled water. There are also a variety in the quality of bottled waters. Here's a link that covers the topic very well.

We use water straight from our tap but since we have a natural artesian well supplying the house with the most wonderful clean cold water we are certain it's fine for all the living creatures in the house.
