Whether or not you need weights depends on your setup. I dont' use lids on my rubbermaids, but they are sandwiched between the shelves with less than 1/16" inch of space between the top of the container and the above shelf.


If the lids are very tight locking you *may* not need weights. If you think there's a chance your snake can get out, it probably can so err on the safe side.
