Things could be getting bad. :-(
Fellow herp enthusiasts:
Due to recent difficult events that have taken place in my personal life as well as events that might possibly be taking place in my near AND distant future, I may have to find a new home for Hissy.
Without getting too deeply into it, financially with student loans and things starting to pile up, I am not in a great financial position to care for Hissy. I can barely afford her food and at this stage, if she were to get sick, I would not be able to afford to get her the proper care that she needs.
Add to this the fact that the next couple of years might bring a variety of moves for Nanci and I, including a couple to New York City and/or Las Vegas (I know that seems like two completely random places but wouldn't things HAVE to be drastic for me to consider this step?) and it just seems like a stable environment for Hissy is almost impossible to be certain of.
I am not sure that this drastic step needs to be taken just yet as things could shake down very differently from the current plans in place. However, I wanted to float this out there to my friends in the community to see what kind of interest I can generate in possible homes for Hissy.
She is a completely healthy female normal ball python. In April it will be two years since I have owned her and my vet estimates that she was about 6 months old when I got her. She IS a picky eater with any notable changes to her environment. She eats F/T rats. She is around 3.5 feet long and weighs close to 1000 grams.
Anyone interested would get her along with a beautiful AP tank, two Acu-rite digital Hygro/thermo combos, one large water bowl, four hides (2 clay pot saucers and 2 reptile caves), a rheostat which I currently have hooked up to the belly heat in the AP tank and whatever else is laying around on the bottom of her tank stand. All of this is a great value and I would only be looking for about $100-$150 for it. I would prefer to keep it local to avoid the stress of shipping her. I would be willing to drive a couple of hours to deliver her. Anyone who lives in or near the Western New York area please respond with possible interest.
As I said, this is not a guarenteed necessity. It is with a very heavy heart that I even propose the possibility of this happening. I love this snake. She has got quite a personality. She is very docile despite her efforts to prove otherwise with all of her hissing and I love that about her. I hope to NOT have to resort to this step, but if I need to, the number one priority is finding her a quality home. Please let me know. Thanks for your time.

Eddie,
I'm so sorry that you're having to even consider this. I know how difficult it is! I'm sure with the wonderful people here, you'll be able to locate a good home for her, if that's what ends up needing to happen! I've also sent you a PM.

Re: Things could be getting bad. :-(
I think you are a great guy Eddie to be planning for Hissy this way! A very hard decision but one you are contemplating for the snake's welfare before your own need to keep her.
I know Jamie Glass has just moved back to that area so perhaps he will see this thread.
Please let us know if there is anything the forum or Mike and I personally can do to be of assistance to you.

Hang in there, Eddie!!! A cross-country move won't hurt her, even if you have to do it every year for a couple of years in a row until you can settle down. Things will work out for ya, I'm sure of it!
