New Western Hognose

I am getting an adult hognose this weekend and picking up viv today and want to make sure I get everything right for her arrival.

I've found a few caresheets and they seem to be nice little snakes and easy to keep. Please point out to me anything I might have wrong on my set up.

3 ft viv - mat and mat-stat thermostat - heating to be 75 - 85 with a basking spot of 95 (this last was mentioned in one caresheet but not on the others).

Do they need higher humidity like BPs when due a shed?

If anyone else has any of these snakes perhaps you could tell me of any little quirky things about them - they are so cute

Thanks - actually it's due to this forum I named her that - I can't remember who it was but somebody once commented that for their size, Burms often act like limp noodles!! So a BIG THANK YOU to whoever said that.

the breeder i got mine from said they do best if you don't let the temp go below 76*. everything else sounds about right... and yes, you should put some damp moss in the hide(s) when they're in shed. my guy is the first snake i've owned that actually uses his basking spot with regularity. other than that, they're a very inactive, but interesting, snake.

sure, all snakes do... well white or blue or whatever. either way, the eyes cloud prior to shedding.
