i could use some advice on my cage.

    http://www.ball-pythons.net/gallery/...imageuser=2713

    well, this is my cage.
    its 1 meter x 1/2 meter x 1/2 meter

i kept looking at alot of pics at this site, i have to say, i feel like the house is bad.. i really like the artificial leaves , so i'll add it to my list.

however. i think the blue neon light is a bad idea. its intented to be a heat source just for a week or two until the flexwatt shipment arrives.

well, any ideas for the cage are very welcome
thanx in advance. and im sorry for the poor quality of the pic. i'll post more clear pics when my brother returns my digital camera.

OK, please forgive my ignorance - but, if I'm reading this correctly, it appears that you didn't have the correct heating devices before you got your snake?

How are you measuring your current temps with just a blue light?

yes , i know. no ignorance at all. i had a cage prepaired for a baby one. then after reading here for a while, i noticed that i was using the wrong devices.
so i've ordered a themometer and a heater from this great site. http://www.mgreptiles.com/Herpheat.html

believe me when i say. i live in a place that doesn't have any snake accessories
that is no excuse though but i brought it from thailand i've also looked in thailand for digital themometer and an undertank heater but wasn't able to find any.

anyways. dont worry. its on the way and the heat in my room isnt cold.
    its 25+ c .

the blue light isn't hot. but i believe it will provide alittle bit warming until the
    devices get here.

so please dont think i dont care for it. im trying to make everything perfect. "shrugs"

    Hi Johar,

I cant tell for sure, but it looks as if you may have some electrical cord coming into your cage from the left front...is this correct? Where in relation to the cage is the light? If it is inside, your snake could get to it and get burned very badly, so even leaving it like this temporarily is not really a good idea if thats the case. Also, with a cord potentially sticking out of the front, are you sure it is secure enough to not allow for escaping? It looks as if you have one hide, you really should have 2, one for the cool side one for the warm side. My only other concern is your water bowl may be a bit big, but cause I am not really sure how big your snake is, I figured I would mention it to you.

Re: i could use some advice on my cage.

hmmm is it bad? ... well, yeah it is kinda big.
the snake is 6 months old. kinda like 1/2 meter long.

about the escaping. yes. there's a lock. i only let the chord outside.
well, i'll get more pics in couple of minutes. and i'll leave to buy two small hidings.

about the light heat. i touched it with my hand. it is kinda warm. not even so warm.
i keep checking it every couple of hours to see if the heat is increased
i can place it under the bedding if that would make it any better? or do you recommend something else? i have a small hole for wiring in the top corner but i plan to use it when i get the heater + thermometer.

    thanx for your patience

Putting the light bulb under the bedding would serve to be a fire hazard, and if it is sitting on top of it, it is still a fire hazard. Also, I know that the light dont feel all that hot to you, but really, as long as your snake has access to it in anyway, it could result in a thermal burn. You need to get that light out of there, and get a heat pad until the stuff you ordered comes in, if you get a human heat pad, you ar going to have to make sure it does not have "auto off". And I dont know that putting a heat pad inside with nothing between it and the snake is a good idea... muchless any type of heat source the snake can physically get to with no barriers between the 2.

Re: i could use some advice on my cage.

ok. i got the pad , left it on for 3 hours or something.. i measured the temp.
its like 43 C , the one i found was the only one. it doesn't have automatic off
only 3 selection. low/medium/high. so i had high i still didn't put it in the cage.

so what do you think? should i put it to medium?

43C is much too high. You want the basking spot to be no more than about 34C. Also, keep in mind that the temps will vary depening on ambient temps. Your heating pad will be okay as a temporary solution, but you should consider a reptile UTH and thermostat for a permanent setup.
