Red tail cages
do any of you know about customcages.com? What do you think about their products.
And one more thing, do you think a 48 inch long, 24 wide, 24 high tank is suitable for a 4 ft and growing red tail?

Don't know about the manufacturer (I like boaphiles) but a 4' cage for a 4' snake is perfectly fine. You can go smaller if you want!

Their 4' x 2' cages are $200 shipped. They're great.

Re: Red tail cages
While that cage size may be OK for the snake now, b/c it is only 4 foot, you may end up buying another bigger cage when it gets older..save your money and get a permanent cage down the road when you are a little more sure of what your snake may top out at. Kind of a waste in my opinion to spend that kind of money now for a 4 foot snake that will grow more needing, a bigger cage. Or buy a HUGE one now and section it off or put more hides or whatever you need to do to make it comfortable allowing it to grow into its cage.

Yes, that is true, it is possible (if it's male) that it won't ever need a 6' cage, but it wouldn't hurt to plonk the $400 for the 6' cage if you have the money now.
I've got so many snakes that I can always use an extra cage when one is grown out of, so my mindset is different from someone who has one or two snakes.

Which means "Oh dang, I have an empty cage...guess that means I need another snake!", right? =)

Yep. Though my burm outgrows cages almost as fast as I can order them, I would probably just toss him in there.
