Do you agree with me or her? ( long )
Me - Oh just to let you know I would seperate all of your snakes that are in that one huge cage
Me- if one gets sick they most likely all will if contaigious and the ule is one snake per cage
Her - wich one
Me - the one with the balls and the carpet pytthons
Her - never hade a problem
Me - I know but they should be seperated
Her - they are a pythons so its ok
Me - I hate to see more than one snake in a cage unless it is for breeding purposes
Her - all
Me - no its not okay
Me - Just because they are pythons doesnt make it okay
Her - who are youanyway
Me - 2 ball pythons shouldnt even share the smae cage
Me - im Andre
Her - your not an expert
Her - ask Jim
Me - I know but i read about it all the time
Me - Jim only has them together because its a pet store and for him to make them all a seperate cage it is a waste of money because they arnt being kept as pets
Her - just cause a book says so dosent mean that thats the only way you can do it
Me - I know and i read it online from alot of people and alot of the BIG breeders say one snake a cage
Her - ask him if its ok and he'll say yes
Her - im not a breeder
Me - ask who
Her - jim
Me - Well he is WRONG
Her - remember that there are different ways to do things
Me - I know
Me - but housing them all in the same cage is not the right way to do it
Her - what works for me works
Me - there is the right and then there is the wrong nd right now ur balls are in the wrong because they should have the same cage
Her - says who!!!!!!!!!!!
Me - I know but they also need different requirments
Me - whta do you mean says who?
Her - they all can thrive in the setup they are in
Me - They can but they shouldnt
Me - be house together
Her - it works
Me - I no it works but its not right for the snake as ball pythons and carpet pythons probably wouldnt even meet in the wild
Her - my snakes wouldnt be alive in the wild they are captive bred
Me - I know
Her - this is what theyre used to
Me - no they arent
Her - should i freak them out by separating them
Her - theyer used to eachother
Me - you wont freak them out just let them settle into their own home
Me - i no they are but they could also eat eachother one time someones ball was missing whnen they had to in a cage and then one dided and the cut it open and the other one was in side it
Me - I would just seperate them
Her - they have been together for 3 years that would have happened already
Me - Not neccisarley
Me - http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...ght=snake+cage
Me - read that
Her - dont tell me how to house mine and i wont tell you how to house yours ok
Me - i no but i hate going into your herp room and seing them like that
Her - then dont
Her - not being mean im just saying
Me - I am not trying to be mean or anything but neither of us are experts
Me - I take advice from breeders that hatch thousands of balls a year
Me - well not just balls snakes
Her - just cause someone else says its right doesnt mean its right for me
Me - Yes it is right for you its right for everyone I dont like it when people mistreat their snakes
By the way Jim is a guy that owns a mom and pop store here where I live. I tried to explain to her about keeping them seperate but it didnt work. Who do you think is wrong?

Shes wrong...shes under the impression her snakes are dogs who love eachother and would be upset if seperated...when will people learn your snake doesnt love you?
Good luck convincing her though just keep your cool whenever you try people take advice better when the person isent being a jerk lol
Is she a member of this forum? If not try to get her on some of these forums maybe if she reads enough about it she will change her mind

I definately agree with you, and I think most of the people on this forum would also...shrugging something off just because "it hasn't happened yet" is a very ignorant excuse when it comes to the safety of animals. Just because my dog hasn't gotten hit by a car yet doesn't mean I'm just going to let him run free on the streets...hopefully she'll check out the forums and change her mind.

Often being right, isn't.
I'll try not to come accross as preachy, but informative. I understand that is harder in text than it is in person.
It helps to identify what your main concern was. Clearly we all know you were concerned for the safety of her snakes.
What was her main concern? I didn't see it listed.
One could assume that it may be cost of housing, hurt feelings, not wanting to feel stupid, or any other number of things that we aren't aware of.
The problem of taking an I'm right/you're wrong approach is that there has to be a loser. No one wants to be the loser, so people slip into other modes to avoid this. (ie. denial)
I'm not sure how good your relationship is with this person, but a more powerful approach would be to acknowledge all her concerns. Don't interrupt her story, let her tell it, and if something pops up you feel a need to respond to, acknowledge it to yourself, and come back to it later.
Only when SHE believes that you truly understand her side of things will you be in a position to guide her.
One of my favourite books on the subject is called "Difficult conversations" by Bruce Patton. It is a valuable read for anyone.

Re: Do you agree with me or her? ( long )
It's obvious to all of us who is correct with respects to proper husbandry. My situation is fairly similar. Let me explain. I feel it in my bones to hand over thousands of $$$ to Adam for one of those FINE pied's but my wife would prefer to spend it otherwise . I can show where the money is spent as could she, but it's that long term investment that's the eye on the prize.
I don't mean to take your point lightly, just wanted to add some humor and let you know she will have to find out the hard way how right you are (unfortunate)...
