    Talking getting there...

HI, im new here if neone didnt see my last/first few 'freak out' threads, and things are going good so far i've got the manky old, fecal ridden, safety hazard, sand outa there and hes on newspaper now. I got the t-rex thermo/hygrometer double pack and thats been lookin ok i've tested it using the heat matt. i also got a new 'hot hide' today and a light timer switch(ideally i'd like to hook it up to an autodimmer to really make him at home but thats for another day). I know the humidity is at around 45% which i know is bad... but whats ideal? because hes blue in the darn eyes already!?!?! (from today)

And as for my feeder/breeder mice... they are freaks, lolol! i think they've gone mental... after all i've done rescuin' em and that, like they're in the lap of luxery, and they're breeding like hell, and they seldom stay out of the nest when im near the tank and i can't disturb it yet, so feeding has been a problem. They tend to not know the concept of a running wheel, and jump around like headless monkeys. OK enough of the smalltalk, balk to dime... well have a few questions that i would appreciate answered, um... so hes going into molt so i'll lay off the feeding(if i can catch the darn things). maybe try once or so. How long does molt take? and what % should the humidity be at and what are the means of achieving good humidity? i've seen the DIY humidifier but what do you guys use? i think im gonna try a humid hide from like a plastic cereal holder for now cuz they're real cheap and seems like a good idea. Would this be sufficient? and this ones a biggy... should i keep my heat matt inside the hotter gradient hide cave? because the surface temp of the matt i've got (its popular i know but forget brand... its the most popular) is 110oF but. took him a while to find it but he found it and doesnt have to crawl under the undersized bark chip. thanks for anyone who reads this or and/or replys and i'll have pictures up on here soon cuz i have loadz on my phone and needa get the usb leed and the digicam from my dads.

    Re: getting there...

Humidity during shed time should be 70% normally it should be 50-60%. You can up humidity by spraying the tank down with water a couple of times a day, and if you use a screen lid, cover 3/4 of it with something like saran wrap.

110 degrees is WAY too hot for something to be in your tank that your snake can touch. I would guess you don't have a thermostat on your heating pad.. you need to get one. You can get a thermostat from Matt here: http://www.mgreptiles.com/

Shedding takes usually a week sometimes a little more.. you'll notice the snake go back to more normal color in a few days, then a day or two after that, he'll shed. Don't offer food during shed, he most likely won't take it.

I have 15 balls in my collection right now, and every one of them eats while in shed. Some will, some won't... you'll never know until you try it.

True.. I have some that will, and some that never do (I only have one BP though) I just hate to waste a rat, so I err on the side of caution in that way.
