Keeping Up Humidty

I have my bp in a 15 gallon critter cage(glass with screen lock top) and I am wondering for all of you that have a similar set up how you keep your humidity up?

I currently have a huge water bowl-that she likes to use as a hide (sleeps under it)

I have a humidity box

and I spray her tank twice a day.

Plus she gets a soak once per week for about 10 minutes in 85 degree water.

Any tips?

Sounds pretty good, but I would try taping up a bit of the screen top. That's seemed to work for me. Just make sure to leave some room so that fresh air can get in, but enough that the humidity doesn't get out. You may also want to buy a humidifier or make one (there's directions in the DIY here somewhere).

putting an extra water dish on the warm side helps too... as it evaporates faster!

I just got some thick clear vinyl from walmart and cut it to fit the top of the cage, and cut 3 3" holes in it for air, results still pending..

Worked pretty well - but I got to say the contac paper to seal all but three corners of the lid was so effective it marked the end of humidifier use. And pretty much convinced me to go tupperware in the end.

I just use saran wrap. I tape it down over the screen during shed cycles and other times, I just dispose of it completely and mist the tanks lightly twice a day. Too much humidity will result in a soppy, wet substrate which can lead to belly rot!

I was reading this posting and I too am having trouble with humidity. I have an Animal Plastic cage but to keep the heat up high enough -- i must still use to low lamps -- if I do not then the ambient temp drops below 80. My humidity stays around 30 to 35 --- I have a water bowl and a small container on the hot side to help but it does not seem to change it. I mist the cage twice a day and it moves to about 40 but then drops back down. I have tried making a humid hide but she will not go in it and it dries out within an hour. It is terracotta that I soak. Suggestions -- more bowls of water or something???? I would love to not use the lamps -- I know that is the major issue but I worry about her temp too...

A call to SPhagnum P.I. ought to solve that mystery.

I have to use sphagnum moss with my bloods round this time of year to keep theur humidity at an acceptable level. Usually a small plastic pan/box of the stuff will do the trick.

Nice reminder though aas I am out and need to order another bale.
