Silly Question
Do baby snakes get the hang of gravity as they get older?
Both my baby boys are so silly cruising around their enclosures exploring and quite sure that they don't need anything supporting their bodies but the tip of their tail! Lots of falling down and other adorable baby antics. Karen even got humming "I believe I can fly" watching them test how tall they can get and how far they can go. So cute! I'm just curious if they grow out of it or not.

Re: Silly Question
Hard to say really. I know Emi still does the climb and thump routine in her enclosure but she's just a baby milk. Rauri the big BCI never falls but at his length he can pretty much reach point B from point A anytime he wants. Our ball pythons aren't big on climbing except Kyna. I think is convinced she's part tree snake so we do have to sort of spot her occasionally as she's pretty clueless about the whole concept of "gravity works!". She's a bit over 2 years old. The older balls seem to be pretty savvy about most things and can easily slither off the couch to the floor or on and off the coffeetable without incident.

Re: Silly Question
My BP climbs on occasion and is also seems to think she can sopport 90 % of her body with that last 10 %. amazing how well she does sometimes. it would be like me trying to balance upside on one hand....not gonna happen.

Re: Silly Question
Ya my girl still does the falling tree routine all the time hehe. She is still young but i think that is just her. She is extreamly active all the time. She alwasy stretches to the top of the tank and then timbers down onto the ground. I still think its funny

Re: Silly Question
Otis seems to be getting more careful, even though he's still just a little baby =) He used to fall off my shoulders a LOT (once like 3 times within 10 minutes), but he hasn't done that in a long time...he just moves a little slower and feels out his "footing" instead of flying around trying to go on adventures that end with him on his back on my floor =P

Re: Silly Question
My mom's year and a half old snow corn goes *BUMP* in the night all the time. Silly girl we get a kick out of it when she flops off her branch.. there goes Chantilly again..

Re: Silly Question
We're too amused when Falkor does it, and he does it a *lot*. It's like he thinks he can fly like his namesake There isn't really much high enough in Gomez's tub for him to do it as much, but occassional soft thumps in the night are becoming the norm, and scaring the hell out of our poor cockatiel in the darkness!
