    Unhappy Mia

My little girl has been missing for a little over a day now. I feel so awful that I allowed her to get out. I've looked everywhere.. She's really just comfined to my one room since I live in a dorm. Still, no sign of her. I turned the AC on to try to get her to another warm spot, nothing... I have a mouse out now... nothing. What more can I do? I can't stop thinking about her!! I feel TERRIBLE.

Don't turn the AC on! They will sacrifice warmth for security. Check under the mattresses and everywhere else. Then check again. You best time for looking will be after nightfall. Look in any conceivable opening and crevice. Best of luck finding her!

Ya, the heat is back on.. it was a temporary thing. I've looked under everything, in all my draws, behind the frig and stove... I've looked all over my room more than 3 times along with a few other people

Search at night. Make sure you check every crevice in the place. And I do mean check and not glance over. They can hide in totally impossible places that one would never think of. Once you've checked tiny places and made a 1000000% sure that he is not in it, seal it up so that nothing can get inside. place plastic bags on the floor before you go to sleep, so that you can hear it rustle if someone decides to show up.

Both times my newt got out I found him when he crawled into/over a plastic bag, so I second that suggestion!

oh i love the bag suggestion... i'll have to remember that!

now i know they don't stalk prey... but wouldn't keeping a live mouse under a plastic container (with holes punched in for air and scent release) on the floor beside a bowl of water perhaps get them to come for a drink and dinner???

Has never worked for me. I've trie mice, rats, and gerbils to no avail. If they decide they are going to hide, there is no coaxing them out into the open. This is in my experience, hopefully Karma might be different

    Re: Mia

I have never heard of the mouse idea working. The plastic bag idea sounds like a good one to me, I'll have to remember it. I read somewhere to put flour down on the floor, but that sounds way too unpractical to me. Don't forget to check any exposed hot water pipes. If your room/apartment has an under the window or wall mounted heat/AC unit, turn it off and take the front panel off of it, there are hot water pipes inside of it, and I know of at least one instance where the snake found its way inside of one.
