came back from the white plains expo..

well my first impression was wow.. this place is huge, for an expo that is. This was my first time attending anything of that sort so i was very overwhelmed. Not only this was my first expo but it was actually my first hands on encounter with herps. To be honest its hard to say whether i enjoyed it or not, it was slightly too much to grasp. Today was just a frustrating day.. i ended up making a stupid move and getting a ball at the expo at the same time i got the supplies, thinking i could handle setting everything up on a tight schedule. It was pretty tough because i kept looking back at the poor girl it that tight little sandwitch container. Im just hoping at this point i did everything right.. the only problem i have is getting the temps right but im going to work on that tomorrow. Anyway since no one sold any thermostats worth buying such as ranco or johnsons, i had to buy the next best thing ESU controller the crappy plastic knob things (i had no choice). a foot of flexwatt (set that bad boy up myself) feels like its working. A digital therm/hyrometer, ESU therm w/ probe, 2 esu hides, a water dish, a bag of aspen. Well on to the good part.. the ball is a cb girl, i purchased her for 30 bucks from a vendor who seemed to have a pretty nice collection. There were six baby balls on the display all seperated in seperate containers unlike the other vendors who kept them either in the same tank or in tight display cases. shes about 11" -12" long from what i saw when i was moving her to her new enclosure. It was very difficult to choose, all i new was that i wanted a girl.
Im definatly going go get some pictures as soon as possible. Im going to give her some time to settle in. I also had a question regarding feeding, the vendor told me that they fed them a week ago OR SO (clearly indicating that they arent too sure) i bought 2 pinkies for a snack just incase. I was wondering if it would be possible to just feed her tomorrow and let her continue settling in?

I only have one in my collection so far.
    Eve, my normal cb ball

Re: came back from the white plains expo..

Wow! You've had a busy day!

Others will pipe in and tell U, but I'm going to chime first.

Leave her be for a week!!!! No handling, or anything. She's going to need time to de-stress from the move and change in environment. The only time you should have contact is to clean up the "presents" she may leave and to change her water. That's harder than Hades to do!!!! Yes, it IS, but for the health of your new pet, it's what's best!!!!!!

When it comes time to feed her, pinkies probably aren't going to do much for her. You may need to start off with weaned mice or small adults. The guideline is to go by your snake's girth size. Nothing larger than the thickest part of their girth. Aaaaaaaall sorts of posts and advice on this and MANY more topics.

Welcome, welcome!! : Isn't it exciting???!?????? And a little overwhelming too, I know. I just had MY first show/swap in Nov. and I can't WAIT until the next local one in March!!!

Glad to have another BPer here!
