    mice.....

Since I started feeding live, I've realized that it is somewhat of a hasttle to go to the pet store every time I wanna feed my lil guy. What do some of u guys do? I guess I could buy a really cheap mouse tank, and like 10-15 mice at a time. But do any of u breed mice? If so what does that ential....
    Thanks!

    Re: mice.....

My mouse supplier is less than a mile from me, and on my way home, so not much of a hassle. But I have thought about this, since I'm adding to my collection and will have to be picking up more at one time.

Currently, I pick up two at the same time (same sex so I don't have unintentional babies if I get a feed refusal) and just keep them in a Kritter Keeper with a small bowl of water that I have to change out daily, because they love to throw their bedding and food in there and some food. It would be easier, I suppose to get a little 10 gallon with a water bottle, but this works for me right now.

Oh, and Kashmire will only eat one mouse, has always refused the second, so basically I'm picking up two weeks' worth at one time.

I breed mice. Very easy and kinda fun really.

Buy all your breeding stock at the same time because introducing new adult mice to each other can be disastrous (they're little murderers)

One male can be kept with as many as 9 or so females. Aquariums are alright, but lab style rodent cages or wire cages are better as more ventilation is there.

I feed mine high quality dog food (Nutro brand Lite variety and Authority adult lite) and a mixture of puffed rice/wheat, cheerios, tri color pasta, and raw oats.

    Re: mice.....

I bought a nice stock of mice at the local reptile show as they were .60 each there oppses to petsmars 1.79 each. I had the misfortune of getting mixed sexes and after 2 days there were constant fights among the males. If you do get a bunch at a time try to get the same sex or have have 2 cages to seperate them. Just my 2 cents =)
