3 mice too much?
Ok so I bought a nice little stock of feeder mice at the Taylor, MI reptile show. I got 10 for the same price 3 would have been at the pet store. Im working on the husbandry of the remaining mice. Since i have a surplus i decided to see if Pandora, my het for albino female, would like to have a 3rd mouse. She took it down like it was the first mouse.
She is only a little over 4 months old and about 140g according to my crappy analog scale (digi on the way from MGR, thanks Matt!). Can a BP overeat in a single sitting?! From what I can tell their hips seem about the size of Pandoras belly, maybe a little bit smaller. I just want to make sure Im not doing something that could cause any problems. Thanks everyone for your help

Re: 3 mice too much?
you should only feed one prey item the same girth(or about the same) of your snake.

Re: 3 mice too much?
It does depend on the prey size Jared. Are these large adult mice or just little barely weaned ones or what? Still at 140 grams I think three sounds a bit much. You don't want to trigger a regurge or have the snake fast from overfeeding. They do continue to have a strong hunting instinct for a bit right after they eat so may hit when they really aren't still "hungry".
Malachi is 200 grams and he is just now taking two small prey items until our rat babies get just a tiny bit bigger than he'll go to one nice fat baby rat per week.

Re: 3 mice too much?
LoL, Marshall, you should tell that to Amani then. She would eat a good 3-4 large adult mice in a sitting(when she was eating...). I know some of Adam's females eat 9-10 mice in a sitting instead of small rats. But you know, she's a 1200g girl, so that is the difference.
jtman, I would stick with 1 or 2 mice per week. She may overeat one week and decide not to eat for the next 2-3 weeks. Not too good for a girl who needs to be growing. Plus, you don't want a regurge on your hands. She sounds like a little piggy pie, LoL. You can probably do 1 large adult mouse or two small adults, and she would be ok.

Re: 3 mice too much?
This was her 5th feed with me and so far has taken 2 mice every week except for tonight's 3. Three is probably too much. I think I will go back to 2 small adults as thats what has worked so far. Im not even sure how big mice get cause petstore mice are mostly pretty small. Thanks for the replies everyone!

Re: 3 mice too much?
I feed 2 small adult mice to my 200g girls, and Jake ate 2-3 mice until I could get him switched over to rats. Now he takes 1 small rat a week, and still looks all around for his second "treat" after he takes the first one down. Never had a regurge.
