If memory serves when I asked this question awhile ago I got this information:

1. That is can be a marketing thing...on the bad side it can be done to try to get you to pay more for a normal that it's truly worth or on the good side to just let you know who the parents of this normal were.

2. That although the snake would be normal in all respects and not carry any special genetics, it was likely produced with a good quality pastel and good quality normal as the breeder was likely trying for pastels. Therefore your pastel sibling is likely of superior stock than some normals you might find out there.

Of course I can't find the thread now...sigh...cold meds suck!
