    Re: Pastel Siblings

It all depends. I've seen normal looking pastel siblings, darker pastel siblings, and lighter pastel siblings. It all depends, I suppose, lol. Maybe someone else can give you a better answer. That's just how I've seen things.

    Re: Pastel Siblings

well pastel siblings would be nothing but normal bps. Some regular bps are nicer than others, but I wouldn't want to purchase one for anymore than a regular. Maybe people believe they can recieve a pastel that was mistaken for a regular for less because of pastel to norm breeding.

    Re: Pastel Siblings

Some people advertise them that way, because it gets your attention. Some try and charge more for them, but like Daniel said, they're just normals. No more - no less.

    Re: Pastel Siblings

If memory serves when I asked this question awhile ago I got this information:

    1. That is can be a marketing thing...on the bad side it can be done to try to get you to pay more for a normal that it's truly worth or on the good side to just let you know who the parents of this normal were.

    2. That although the snake would be normal in all respects and not carry any special genetics, it was likely produced with a good quality pastel and good quality normal as the breeder was likely trying for pastels. Therefore your pastel sibling is likely of superior stock than some normals you might find out there.

Of course I can't find the thread now...sigh...cold meds suck!

I second that! Serious breeders usually look for quality animals to breed with, and usually the acorn doesn't fall very far from the tree.

    Re: Pastel Siblings

definately need to keep an eye out. Last weekend at a show I was scouting out female BP's. This vendor (i won't name names) had females for $50 and then one for $95 that was a "pastel sibling". I played dumb especially after hearing the price was higher than the others ($95) and asked if it carried pastel genetics. He was like Oh ya the father was normal and the mother was a pastel blah blah blah so that makes this girl at least 50% HET for pastel...

Needless to say I did NOT purchase from him. I don't know if really beleived what he was telling me or he just didn't know...his specialty was amphibians and he just had a couple snakes there also.

Watch for "possible" ploys such as this...they really are not worth all that much more unless like mentioned above you feel that it is a "superior" normal.
