? on Columbian Red Tail coloring

All the shots I see of baby's have that beautiful ghost-gray color to most of their body. None of the pics of adults do. Is that gray color something that fades with time? I think that it is awesome with the bright tail in the babies. Thanks

For the most part Columbian Boa's or commons will lose those bright colors as they age. Its the True Red tails like Suri's that keep those vivid colors with age.

It's true, most babies will shed out of their silver coloring---it'll fade to brown or go dark gray---and their tails fade, too. But, sometimes, you get one that's holds their color. My girl's still gotta lot of reds and peaches in her tail, and she's about 4 years old.

It tends to be that the brighter they are when they are younger the more they will fade as adults. Guyuna's stay pretty colorful as they get older though.

Most BCC (boa constrictor constrictor) boas keep the color MUCH better than BCIs (boa constrictor imperator)

BCCs are surinams, guyanas, peruvians etc

BCIs are colombian, central american, nicaraguan, plus the insular boas like hogg islands (these do keep color much better!)
