Shed Going Bad
Ledoras finally starting to shed, but its not going well. I found a peice of shed early on. I knew that I would have to do something. So taking a tip from Joe Compel, I got a small container and cut airhole in the lid then put a small bit of water in. Then I got a washcloth and made it fit in the container, it soaked up most of the water except for a very small amount. I put the container in the cage and put her in it with the lid on for a while. Was this a good idea.

Re: Shed Going Bad
That's fine for an hour. Just don't leave her there too long. The shed should just melt off after that.

Re: Shed Going Bad
I went to go take her out of it after an hour, but she wouldn't leave. I left her in there for another hour and the shed looked like it was going better. Im going to try the same thing tonight again since it seemed to help.

Re: Shed Going Bad
Sometimes it takes a couple of one hour nightly soaks to get all the old stuck shed off. We've got a couple of bigger females here that came in with obviously old sheds stuck and did have to soak them quite a lot, and one panicked phone call to Adam for advice on 3 layers of stuck eyecaps....ack!
Now both of those females are back in shed and we are crossing all our crossable bits that their first full shed cycles with us go much better and we can finally actually see what they really look like after a good shed.
Once you get your snake on a good routine and have your humidity working right, sheds go so much easier generally.

Jo. The first shed Bobby had when he came into our family didn't go well (he got the head off and didn't bother about the rest - I had to help him ). This last time he shed he had a perfect shed so they might not shed properly this time either, but will more than likely shed fine the next time - good, tender, loving care and good food works wonders
