    Re: Learned a boa lesson

LOL Kyna our 2 year old female b.p. did that one day. Middle of the afternoon, all of a sudden Kee Kee books out of her warm hide and heads quickly into her cool one, kinda odd behaviour for her so I peek in. She'd done the prize winning dump in her warm hide....I wouldn't have stayed in there either! phewwwwwwwwww

Rauri, Becky's BCI we are fostering wins though for "biggest snake poop I've ever personally seen!" Good lordy it was so impressive I had to phone Becky long distance to tell her all about it (how sad is that LMAO).

Rionach our youngest b.p. who is a sweet little girlie tried to tag my husband this morning, then went for me. No idea why but this evening she's her usual nice self so I'm thinking it was just some snakey mood or other LOL.

    Re: Learned a boa lesson

If my boa is sitting on top of her hides, I can bet I'll find a smelly present inside. Funny how they avoid their own piles.. not so dumb as people think!

    Re: Learned a boa lesson

The part I don't get is why they don't leave the hide - take care of business - and go back to their nice, warm, favorite spot. It would be like me peeing on the couch and then getting up and moving to an uncomfortable chair.

lol.. I guess they're not quite that smart, although sometimes my hogg boa will do just that. She prefers her cool hide, so sometimes she dumps in the warm one.. makes for a wonderful aroma!

    Re: Learned a boa lesson

Not sure of how snake's bowels work but heck if you were passing something that huge compared to your body size maybe it's just a matter of "omg here it comesssssssssssssssss" and they don't have the control to stop it and move elsewhere to evacuate their bowels. Most of ours do seem to poop in their hides though and then move to the opposite hide, just seems to be the way they take care of business lol.

    Re: Learned a boa lesson

One of my pythons will come out of the hide and use the back left hand corner of the viv as a bathroom for a dump. My other BP uses the opposite corner for a dump but both of them pee in the hide

Second last time Byron shed, I put a larger humid hide in as he'd outgrown the other one. He didn't think much of it as a humid hide, but used it as an on-suite bathroom instead! He shed perfectly without using the hide and so did Bobby last time he shed. I just kept the humidity up by spraying regularly.

They are smart. They only do this to confuse us
