    Yet another shed queston.

good day, my ball is going through it's first shed since i got him ... everything seems to be going ok so far (was about 4 days ago that his eyes were milky color, now they are clear again) ... he wouldn't eat anything of course ... so i am just keeping an eye on him and on the temp, humidity (varys from 78 to 89 from one side to the other, where under tank heater is) .. humidity is between 60 to 70 most all the time i check it ...

the only thing that has me concerned, which i am sure is just part of the process .. but want to make sure ...

i noticed today while he was moving around that his skin is starting to 'wrinkle and crease' while he moves ... and it doesn't normally do this ... this is normal? ... just concerned because he hasnt ate yet .. dont want him to get dehydrated (i change the water out daily and will notice him going in and out of it after i change it) ...

the 'wrinkled' skin is normal....unless you are seeing ribbones because that is a sign of dehydration. Also, I would up those temps to 82-84 cool side/ 92-94 warm side

no, no rib bones just wrinkling when he moves his body at a sharp angle ...

ok will raise the temp up a bit over the day.

hopefully in another few days to weeks he will shed ... he started the shed process on the day i normally would feed him .. so it is going to be a bit till he will eat again apparently (not interested at all in food that i offer to him at the moment)

well he has started to shed, but i noticed a bit ago that just one peice has came off from below his head .. the rest hasn't came loose yet .. hopefully the rest will come off ok .. i have the high side of temp at 91 and humidity at 65 right now .. will check again in the morning to see how he has progressed .. if it is still patchy i know i should try to soak him for a while .. but unsure exactly how to do this .. just fill the bathtub with an inch or two of warm/ room temp water? ...

    Re: Yet another shed queston.

an update and still looking for suggestions ...

he has shed a little bit more off of his head area .. but none off of rest of body ... this is only in the first 24 hours of shedding .. so i am likely being impatient ...

i have setup a humid hide box in his cage ... and the temp is holding steady at about 94 on the hot side of the cage .. with overall humidity being in the 60's ...

without handling him, but giving him a good look .. most all of his skin now has a shiney silver look to it .. esp the ligher color areas ...

after reading through other threads here i see that this can take several days ... and as long as all of the skin comes off that is what is important (does it matter if it is all in peices, some people mention a full shed in one peice) ...

he does seem to just lay around tho, only trying for a little bit to rub his head and body to shed before he stops again for 4 to 5 hours ...
