    Faeces.

So my long wait is over. Monty finally took a crap for the first time since the night I got him, 2 months ago.
Last time he passed two firm pellets but this time it was a much looser motion, although still formed. Should I read anything into this?

    Re: Faeces.

yeah what's the deal on this? in all my reading, nothing has ever talked about this... i've been worried because i've had mine for a week without taking a crap. i guess that's not too un-normal?

(mine's a spotted python, but they aren't too unlike a ball)

    Re: Faeces.

Spotted pythons have a slightly higher metabolism and do go more often than ball pythons ... big difference actually. But all pythons being generally slow moving and vulnerable animals (because they have no limbs) have adapted over time to be able to go long periods without defecating. The smell of feces is a great lure for predators, so the evolutionary adaptation to go weeks or months without going is purely a survival skill.

The less often you go, the harder you are to find.

Yep just wait till you walk innocently into your laundry room where a big ole 5.5 foot boa lives and get hit with the "someone has dropped a massive load" vapour!

Holy mother of....I've cleaned a lotta kid's butts, a lotta dog doo doo and even some horse stalls and a goat or two in my time...but Becky's snake wins hands down LOL!
