    feeding

I have a BP that is 2-3 feet. (last time I measured, he was about 20 inches, which was about a month or so ago, but he seems to be about 3 feet) I feed him frozen thawed mice 2.5-3 inches and 20-25 grams. I am currently feeding him one mouse once a week. What would be a good amount to feed him? thanks.

for a male, i wouldn't try to pack alot of weight on him. you could do larger mice or 2 smaller ones. but don't overload him, they can get picky and go off feed. just keep him eating weekly and he'll be fine.

My suggestion would be switch to rats but I am rat biased. He could eat a small rat weekly now and forever.

    Thumbs up Re: feeding

well i have a much smaller ball python named tiger and i have fed him two mice this week with no sweat. you snake could eat at least that much but a small rat would probably be alot easier.

Yup, it sure could, but over the last 25 years working with ball pythons I've learned that if you load them up with lots of large prey items, sooner or later they will fast (refuse food) in order to "catch up". Adult male ball pythons do fine on an adult mouse once a week.

FWIW, just because the speedometer on a car goes to 100mph doesn't mean that it was made to drive 100mph between traffic lights.
