Most people will tell you that undertank heating is the best way to heat a Ball Python enclosure. A heat lamp will dry out the enclosure and lead to bad sheds and possibly other health problems. But if you plan to keep it, you should have it controlled by a thermostat and you want a hot spot of 88-93 and a cool side in the low 80s.
