She Ate!!!
After waiting till today for the pet store to get some pinky rats, I picked one up today. After putting it in next to her hide she woke up and flicked her tongue. She then struck and missed. She then stuck again and constricted. She completey had it ate in less than 30min. It didn't really leave much of a bump so Im going to go move up to a fuzzy. This is her first feed with me. The first milestone of many.

It was great. I want to give her one more feeding before I handle her.

Re: She Ate!!!
Sounds like you are really taking the time to make sure she gets settled and really want to give her the best care! You've also been taking advantage of asking questions of all these wonderful folks with so much invaluable knowledge!
Congratulations on the feed this evening! It IS a wonderful feeling!

Should I move up to fuzzies next week. The pinky didn't leave much of a bump on her.

Re: She Ate!!!
How old is she? She can safely eat a prey item that is the same girth as she is. So, say for instance, her girth is the same as a quarter (the coin). Then the prey item can be the same girth.
I would think she could probably take a hopper or a small mouse. Assuming she's the same size my guy was when I got him.

If you noticed a lump with a rat fuzzy, then I'd stick with that for awhile. But of course that's just my

Pinky rats are fine for young ball pythons. I have about 110 that I'm feeding pinky rats to each week and they are growing like clock work.
There's no need to leave a "lump" when you feed. Your ball python is better off without it.
