just wondering....
we recently, bought two wonderful balls and we were just wondering, when we go into stores and such and look at others in the cage most of the time, the snakes excrement tends to look kinda like the mouse but ours seems to be a little runnier at first so i was wondering if this is healthy or not, and if its not how do i help them?oh and i was also wondering what that white stuff is that also normally isin the cage a couple days after a feed?

Re: just wondering....
The white stuff is urates, very normal! Now the fact that the bm looks like a mouse is not normal. It sounds like maybe a trip to the vet may be in order. Runny stool could be an indication of parasites, and if you can make out a mouse then you may have a regurg on your hands. I can't be positive on that, but I would recommend a trip to a good herp vet and get a fecal and general checkover!

Re: just wondering....
Do you mean your snake's poop looks like a mouse or the pet store snake's poop looked like a mouse? Sorry bit confused here (sort of a normal state of being though for me LOL).
Our snake's feces generally look very close to a piece of cat poop if that helps at all.

Re: just wondering....
Okay, DD has pooped, but it looked more like dry pellets than a regular terd. Is that okay? He pooped about 1 week after I got him home.
Okay one more question, BP's pee, urate and poop? Why the Urates?

Re: just wondering....
Yes, I agree. "Tarry" feces in any animal is not a good thing. It usually indicates a heavy parasitic load and will need to be treated by a qualified veterinarian as quickly as you can.
Take a fecal sample to the vet (about a teaspoon size). Put the feces in a plastic baggie, and put it in the fridge. Do not freeze it.
This is why we don't keep multiple animals in the same enclosure. If one has a health issue, the others will too. Multiple issues in multiple animals means greatly multiplied vet bills. Snakes kept together are usually stressed, and stressed animals do not heal the same way as compared to content animals. Stressed animals will heal slower, and may have recurrences later on down the road, which will, in turn, cause the other animal(s) housed with it to come down with the same disease. Thus adding to the increasing vet bills.
Just not a good thing any way you look at it. I hope you get that little snake's poop to the vet quickly, and get him/her treated. Good luck with the baby!

Re: just wondering....
If the snake is stressed out would it be as active as it usually is.
