    Rescue Boa!

Well, my rescue boa in Michigan is FINALLY safe and sound at Jo's(Frankykeno) house. I am so relieved, you just can't imagine.

Jo said that they looked him over and he has a slight burn(just red/irritated) from his vent to his neck. Poor boy... His previous owner !TWIT! kept him with a hotrock... Also had a bright day light on 24/7... I can't even imagine how stressed out he was.

He will be going to the vet after he gets settled in to get a thorough check and an accurate sexing. He's is roundabouts 2 years old and 4.5ft. Jo says he gorgeous and sweet. He will be getting shipped to me by the end of the month, and I just can't wait! of course he will be quaratined for about 2.5 months as I don't want any risks at all.

Oh, and I think I've named him... Ruari... It means "Red King" and should suit him well. He will be a king living at my house. It is pronounced "Roar-Ree". I will post pictures when I get him and will keep everyone updated on his progress. I'm sure Jo at Camp Hissss and Slither, hehe, will keep everyone up to date as well.

    THANK YOU JO AND MIKE!

    Re: Rescue Boa!

No thank you Becky for offering to give this beautiful snake a great home where he'll be loved and more importantly, his needs understood.

He's happily tucked up in his hide (he didn't have any hides before at all) and that heat rock is gone...gone...GONE! His poor sore belly!

He's in quarantine from the other snakes of course but did get a clean health check last week from our vet other than she was also concerned that his belly was not perfect (it's gotten much worse this week since the vet visit apparently).

Thanks for allowing us to act as "foster owners" for him Becky. We'll do our best to get his stress levels down and get his belly back to normal so he'll be in perfect shape for shipping.

    Re: Rescue Boa!

Too be very fair everyone the young woman simply got a snake she wasn't ready for, had not researched enough and thank goodness was able to in the end see the snake's needs before her own. For that I totally respect the previous owner.

Yes there is no real excuse for not knowing in this age of computers and care sheets at your very fingertips as well as the wisdom of forums and breeders.

We've encouraged this snake's previous owner to really think a long time about what snake would better fit her lifestyle and her level of knowledge and experience. She's agreed that it's a far bigger responsibility than she was aware of.

I think all in all, considering the snake is not permanently damaged and will now get a chance at a wonderful home with Becky, it all worked out as it was supposed to.

I'm more mad at the pet store continuing to promote these rotten heat rocks! I'm tempted to take this snake in and show them his belly! He did NOT need to have to be hurt that way just to stay warm! There's absolutely no excuse for those things to be sold to unknowing new owners.
