What I did on my summer vacation... (Pics)

Ok, so I'm really just looking for an excuse to show off what I did with my second to last week of summer vacation before I start my final year of school (woo!) Plus, I've gotta kill sime time while Eleanor's rat thaws out. I just got home from two weeks visiting my man in Nova Scotia, and his little brother got rear-ended on his bike after my first week there, so I spent my second week helping fix it up with him and his parents. I was in charge of paint and got some practice for school, I'm so excited

(Full size pics can be seen in the link in my signature)

So, what'd you all you guys do with your summer this year?

Very cool.. I'd like to learn how to do that stuff. Do you use an airbrush exclusively?

My summer? This and that. Nothing terribly exciting.

I have yet to learn to airbrush, that's the main part of school this year and why I'm so excited about it

I did the striping with a dagger brush, they look like this: Totally awkward at first, but you get used to it.

I think I'd make a big blob with that brush.. lol You must have a steady hand to do the pinbrushing.

Whoah, those are immpressive stripes. I know how hard striping is; I have tried. Though I can paint objects and stuff on a canvas, I failed miserably at stripes! The old saying is true with me: "Sure you can paint; but can you draw a straight line.. nope."
Airbrushing is fun. My man is doing realistic flames and getting very good at it! Since you're an artist, let me ask you this; isn't it funny to look at your first attmpts at sumthin, and compare it with something you've done after you mastered it?
Must be something in the air, about wrecking bikes; my man's cousin just did last week. It was his last ride before selling it too!

Re: What I did on my summer vacation... (Pics)

I spent the first two or three weeks of sign painting school painting nothing but 1 and 2 inch lines, over and over and over until I got a whole row perfectly straight. Now when I tried this with a pinstiping brush some months later... man, that was hard! I think anyone can pick up on it, it just takes a lot of practice. I love going back and looking at my old artwork, I've kept pretty much everything since middle school. The weirdest thing is when I'm driving along somewhere and see a sign I made like the week before and didn't know where it was being installed, it's weird, I always have to do a double take, lol.

Oh and the bike... he'd planned on selling it and buying a different one, I think he had a buyer too, lol, what luck! He ended up buying another bike anyway, but this one he's hanging on to until next spring I think.
