Temp and humidity problems (please help)

I just got my new ball python but I have some problems. When I left to go get her the tank was all ready and correct. But when I got home my cool side dropped 3 degrees to 72 and the humidity dropped to 30%. I dont know what the hells going on in my room. I have no idea how the humidity can be so low. I have over 90gal of fish tanks in my room and the hygrometer upstairs shows it 55% humidity. I thought I had all of this under control but obviously not.

you need to get the cool side up to around 80 at least and the hot end around 90-94. are you using a thermostat? what kind of heat? can you describe your setup?

I am using a 12"x11" peice of flexwatt on a 20gal long tank. I have dimmer on it. Can I put about 4"-6" of the other peice of 11" flexwatt on the cool end with a dimmer set at 80F

yeah you can do that, and you may want to cover the top with something like plastic,acrylic, paper, magazines, tape to help keep in the heat.

DO cover that lid - assuming it is screen - heat rises and will take the humidity with it whoosh right outta there.

Try clear ConTac paper (that shelf liner caca) on the outside of the screen - there are a number of options for doing it but of those I've tried it seems to be the easiest and quickest.

Those dimmers with the temps labeled on them suck as far as accuracy goes. You really need to adjust the dimmer so that the temps on your digital thermometer are correct regardless of what the dimmer reads.

I do go by the digital temp for correctness. I will be getting a thermastat here soon just so I can put my mind at ease.
