Bad Shed
My rescue BP started shedding about 3 hours ago. He's got the head part off (and the eyecaps off) but hasn't bothered taking any more off. Him having bad sheds was one of the problems to previous owners couldn't deal with before they gave him to the rescue centre and I subsequently got him.
Because I knew he'd had problems shedding in the past I've made sure the humidity has been kept high for him. I also gave him a humid hide but he didn't use it - at least not for shedding purposes - he thought it was an en-suite bathroom and used it as a toilet instead
Looks like he's going to have a swim in the bath (under close supervision of course) and a slither through a rough wet towel.
How long should I leave him before I intervene to get the shed off?

Re: Bad Shed
24 hours ... sometimes it just takes them a while.
Try soaking him in a small sealed rubber main container inside his enclosure for an hour. Much less stressful than a "bath tub" and wet towel and afterwards the shed usually just slides right off.

Re: Bad Shed
We did as Adam suggested Fiona with Baby's first poor shed...popped her and her soak bin into the enclosure on the warm side for an hour and bingo....off came the shed pretty much as we lifted her out...a gentle run through a facecloth and she was good to go (thanks again Adam!).

Re: Bad Shed
We got Bobby's shed off by letting him swim around the bath under close supervision, then letting him slither through a wet towel. He looks fantastic now.
