Hurricanes and Honeymoons
After driveing over 850 miles and 12+ hours today, my wife and I are home from our honeymoon from Disneyworld in Florida. It was a great trip....wonderful weather and good times
The wedding and reception were wonderful besides the fact that the majority of family and friends that attended were in the process of evacuating from hurricane Katrina. Our wedding night hotel in New Orleans and our flight to Orlando from New Orleans were canceled so we drove to Florida....and got to drive along the Mississippi Coast the day before it was destroyed. Besides the hurricane, I could not have asked for a better wedding
My hometown(Pearl River,La) is on the Miss./La. border and my wife's hometown (Slidell, La) is on Lake Ponchartrain. I have family from all over southeast Louisiana and the Gulf Coast. And hurricane Katrina has completely messed up everyone's lives. Luckily, my parents and my wife's parents all made it through the hurricane will only slight damage to their homes but they will be without power for the next 6 -8 weeks. However, I have a lot of family and friends that will be without homes or have had their homes severely damaged. Please let your prayers be with them and all others who have suffered because of this hellish natural disaster. Also, remember to be thankful that you have clean water to drink, food to eat, a roof over your head, electricity for our daily activities, a place to go to work, and the means to communicate with love ones. You never think about how great these things make our lives until you and people you know have to do without.
God Bless!

Re: Hurricanes and Honeymoons
Wonderful to read that you and your wife are home safe Daniel and had a lovely wedding and honeymoon despite Katrina. Also that your friends and family are alive and safe, albeit terribly affected by this awful natural disaster.
Thank you as well Daniel for reminding all of us that even though we may face life's challenges, we need to be very thankful we have the basics of life and that in itself is a blessing that so many in the affected area do not share right now.
Blessings on both you and your wife as you start this new chapter of your lives together.

^^ LOL!! I met Mickey this summer and he's pretty freakin' big. Looks like he'd turn vicious if you fed him live, too!

You know what Daniel? I was saying the same thing to Karl last week. We were frustrated because money ran a little dry last week and we both got paid on Friday. I told him, "you know what? We're worried about getting to Friday, but we have a roof over our heads, clean water to drink and shower in, a comfortable bed to sleep in and food in our bellies, and a job to go to. We are very blessed and we need to keep these folks in our hearts and prayers. We may not have everything we "want" but we have everything we "need"!
Congratulations on your wedding and honeymoon and glad to hear that everyone was safe!
