    When you started driving...

...were you nervous about going out on the road alone for the first time?
Yesterday I finally did it; we were at a friend's, and we got an old truck back from them and had to get both trucks home. So I drive the nissan, and my man drove the pickup. It was a good 40 mile drive, along some windy country roads! But I did it!!! Granted, I was driving behind him, but technically I was the only one in the vehicle
It was funny; I was drivin along, and I looked around the passenger seat and back of the truck, and thought, I am ALONE and DRIVING! It was such a good feeling, I was so terrified of this but now it has been done! He did kinda put me on the spot, getting into the other truck and almost forcing me to do it, but it felt OK as I was driving awhile. Then it was just like "is this drive over yet? I am tired!"
How did it go for you, when you started?? I am interested to hear people's stories.

    Re: When you started driving...

Being a typical 15 year old I was giddy and scared and on top of the world. It opened up the possibility of new responsibilities and new independence. I loved it! Granted I had my first accident a year later when my purse slid under the brake as I headed for a red light! Small fender bender (in my sister's car....SORRY CHRISTIE ) but no one was hurt.

End result, I didn't carry a purse for years and I learned the importance of stopping distance!!

I learned to LOVE driving in college when I got into sports cars. I had a 300zx twin turbo souped up with an after market chip, new exhaust system (with some illegal bored out precats), a spiffy intake and some nice after market turbos....didn't do anything to the outside and I had about 425 hp...it was sweet! I remember driving up at a light and some sad frat boy in a mustang wanted to take a go at me...I smiled reeaaaal nice, let him have a nice little lead and then waste him. I let him catch up at the next light and smiled again so I didn't break his fragile college boy ego...ah, the good ole days

Now I drive a mini van with my adorable small children....while I wouldn't trade them for anything, I'd love to win the lotto and end up with a nice turbo Supra....heck, while I'm dreaming I'll just go for the Carrera!

Well I drove alot, but it was always with someone else in the car. I DID wait awhile to get my license (I am 24 now hehe) but I have driven, just never alone in the car.

That sux Wendy; I will remember now nOT to leave my purse in the front seat. I usually toss it in the back, where everything spills out but it is safer
