Pregnant Snake? HELP!!!
Hey everyone,
Im so clueless on this and exotic vet techs are doing me no help. Well i have to ball pythons and they are 14-15 months old. the other day i caught them mating. i have no idea which one is male and which one is female. so does anyone know how to tell when a snake is pregnant and what to do with her before she lays the eggs? How long is she pregnant? How do i help to care for the mother and the eggs? How long does it take for the eggs to hatch? and lastly what do i do with the young after they hatch?
that is alot and im not even positive on how all this works. if someone could actually email me and let me know as much as possible that would be great.

thanks everyone -Stephanie-

Re: Pregnant Snake? HELP!!!
It's highly unlikely that you'll be seeing eggs anytime soon. Breeding throughout the year is common with communally housed animals. At 14 months old, your female really isn't ready yet.
And even though you've seen them locked up, they could even both end up being males.
Since ball pythons have been know to eat other ball pythons, you should really think about keeping 1 ball python per cage ... or eggs will be the last thing you need to worry about.

Ibid. Ad infinitum.
Cornerstone of good husbandry - house appropriately.

Re: Pregnant Snake? HELP!!!
is it even possible for a ball python to eat another ball python the same size of itself? id really like to see a 28 inch ball python eat another ball python only an inch shorter then itself... if your talking about one that is like 4 inches long compared to one that is 27-28 inches long then i know what your saying. other then that it seems physically impossible.

HP, many animals exhibit sexual behaviour not for reproducation but in an attempt to dominate. This is hardly "gay" behaviour and I seriously doubt that this kind of comment is appropriate in this forum.

adams right, even though you might have seen them lock up they could both been males. and even if it was a pair its highly unlikely that you will get fertile eggs from a female that young. you normally have to cycle them anyway to get fertile eggs.
