danger or safe?
my ball pythons right eye has a dent in it.... his eye itself is still moving and he seems fine... but the other eye is completely rounded... i am just wondering if this could be part of the shedding process or if his eye is damaged... it seems like the dent is only in the outer protective area.... but i dunno please help

Re: danger or safe?
One of ours has a very slight dent in one eye tho since we got her recently I've no idea why it occurred tho I suspect a poor shed in her past. It doesn't seem to affect her sight at all, she definitely reacts to movement on that side and tracks her prey easily so we don't worry over it. I am going to have our vet look at it tho when Punkin goes in for sexing and a check up.

Re: danger or safe?
sometimes bps get dents in their eyes before they shed. just raise your humidity to the 70-80% range until it sheds and everything should be fine. if it is not close to shed time then it may be caused by dehydration (now or in the past if a recent aquisition) as mentioned but as long as water is available and the correct levels (around 60% or so) are provided it should still go away with the next shed. a humid hide can help immensely as well.

Re: danger or safe?
Sounds like a low-humidity problem. Raise your humidity, and he should be fine.
A clean spray bottle works great; just spray the snake, spray inside of its hide spots, and things should be better. You may want to cover part of your lid with saran wrap (if it's a screen lid.)

"Jen's (ginevive) BP Evileye has something like that. She rescued it from a bad situation and I think it was just from poor conditions. Ask her though, Evileye is doing well though."
Oops, she posted same time as me lol

Re: danger or safe?
Yeah, here's a pic... you can see in the first pic, the bad eye itself. The second pic, you can see his normal eye, and the bad one, for a comparison.
Sometimes it seems like he ahs trouble "seeing" the rat I am feeding him; he will only accept live prey. But it is not a humidity issue anymore; his eye is permanently like this. We rescued him from a situation in which he had some BAD retained shed and eyecaps. That stuff was easy to fix, but this is a permanent reminder of what can happen if people neglect their BPs...
lol Hades, we did post at the same time! hehe
