i hope that sass and forrest are right and that it is, in fact, a female. i did some searching online last night and found this which is what really made me think that i might have a male. that is very similar to the way that my snake (norah...norman?) looks when it everts itself. the hemipenis/unidentified bulges do come out a little more than shown in my pics--it's a bit hard to hold the tail and snap the pic at the same time. in any case, we have an appointment scheduled to see the vet first thing monday morning so hopefully that will clear some things up.
as for what i can do if it does turn out to be male, i'm not really sure. i haven't contacted the people i got her from and won't until i know something for sure. i have two other females (i hope) from them as well and have so far been very pleased with them. they seem like really nice people--they do some breeding but i believe that a lot of the adult snakes they sell are ones that they acquire from other pet shops, people that don't want them anymore, etc. i think they would be willing to work with me but since it has been 4-5 months or so since i actually bought this snake i'm not really sure. but no need to worry about that until i find out for sure what the sex is anyhow.
