    My Car Buying Experiance

Well, I graduated from college, and decided to take things up a notch in my life and make an investment in a brand new vehicle. I looked for a bit and then remembered these new kinds of cars that just came out....Scion. After looking at the 3 cars Scion makes (xA, xB, and tC) I finally decided on the two door car, the tC. see pic:

Scion has a new "pure pricing" policy which i love. You can visit Scion.com and acctually build your car, and the price you see on the web site is the price you pay at EVERY scion dealer. No haggle, no hassle...with this policy, you know that the person who came in before you and comes in after you pays the exact same price.

So, I've settled on this car....now i have to deal with the dealers.

I go to 2 dealers, one is called North Point, one is called Landers. I test drove a manual at Landers, and an auto at North Point. the guys at North Point were much nicer, but for some reason i started to seal the deal with Landers. After Landers got a $500 deposit from me (in cash...mistake!!) i was told the wait was 3-4 weeks. about 2 1/2 weeks into the wait, i decided to give North Point a call and said "hey, do you have a Flint Mica (color of the car) in a manual trans.?" and they said "yes we do" so i went up there, and wrote a check for $250, which he stapled inside a folder. he was so nice and said "if at any time you want to back out, just come and pick up this check and void it out"....no money lost for me!

Now, it's time to get my $500 deposit back from this other place, that STILL cannot find the car i want. for the past 5 days i've been very nice in trying to get my money back. I've gone from one person to another to another who is now sick. It's rediculous the amount of BS they are putting me thru just to get my money back. Scion has an "easy out" policy that must be strictly followed....meaning if the customer decides to back out, then there deposit is refunded with no hassle...

yeah right. 1 dealer has made everything so easy on me, and the other has made everything so hard.

Needless to say, these other guys at North Point have returned all of my phone calls and answered all of my questions. I'm not really sure why i chose Landers in the first place. I guess it could have been the fact that they opened a HUGE new dealership, while North Point has one about 1/5th the size. I guess, the smaller the dealership, the less customers, which in turn means better customer service.

With Scion, you will pay the same price no matter what dealership you go to. So, what it boils down to is customer service.

If you're in the market for a car, perhaps a Scion, then do your research! read reviews on web site's about dealerships before making the same mistake i did.

Tomorrow I pick up my car, which is on the lot and on hold for me at North Point. It's even got a nice "hold for Nathan Ledet" sign in it! I will post pictures with me and my new ride as soon as i can!!

    Re: My Car Buying Experiance

Well, this morning I unleashed the beast...

When my mother gets pissed..she gets pissed...and you don't want to be in her way when she is mad. I told her the situation and she called up there. Surely after the sales manager changed his diaper, he wrote my check out. My mother said she is going to pick it up later today (cuz i gotta go to work).

reason # 18,948,384,930,838 why i love my mother.
