Well i was going to build my own tank for a central american boa i found at work. Instead once my friend heard he gave me his animal cage, its a cage built for reptiles, its 6 feet long, 3 feet deep and 2.5 feet high. So i went to home depot and or 25 bucks i got 2 2X4', 3 peices of heavy straping, 1 bottle of gorilla glue and a huge box of nails. I made a little make shift stand to put the tank on, and it worked, to my amazement. When i get out of work im gonna go home and take some pics to show you guys. But now that i got it setup i can start building a real stand. Ill post pics of that to once i get it done.
I have one question tho. Would a 2.5 foot ball python get along in the same enclosure as a CA boa 5.5 ft.? would they get along at any size?

NO NEVER NADA. Never put two different species in the same enclosure. I wouldnt even suggest putting two of the same species in the same enclosure except for breeding.

DO NOT ever put 2 different species together. Not a good idea. One may eat the other.... and if you search the forum here, there is a thread on this same thing, with a link to a pic taken by someone who did just what you want to do.

I agree 100% that would be a bad idea. Humidity levels required are different for each snake. There is also the possibility of canabilism.

I HAVE A BALL PYTHON AND A BOA PAIZON AND PINKY.THE TWO HAVE A 10 FOOT BY 12 FOOT ROOM SET UP LIKE A BIG JUNGLE.AND IM STILL FREAKED BY THE FACT THAT ONE OR THE OTHER COULD EAT ONE OR THE OTHER,BUT THERE IS MANY HIDES AND AREA'S IN THE ROOM TO GET AWAY FROM EACH OTHER.MY SNAKES ARE 2 - 3 YEARS OLD AND I NEVER SEEN ANY FIGHTING. You said it freaks you out then why do it. Just because you have never seen them fight doesnt mean you ever will. Plus with a room that big will stress them out. What about humidity and all that that was stated before you just going to ignore the requirements for each species. So what if you have lots of hides they are still going to see eachother at some point. You shouldnt just wait and see you should seperate them as soon as possible and house them correctly.

Oh, never put a boa into an enclosure with a python. Boas can barbor IBD (inclusion body disorder) and never even show symptoms of it. This disease is fatal to pythons; just do an Internet search on it.
I used to even go so far, as to keep my boa in a seperate room. Now I just make sure to completely disinfect his cage often (as I do all of them) and I NEVER handle one of my BPs on a night that I handled my boa.
IBD has wiped out people's entire collections; please don't tempt fate.

Scotty I have to agree with the consensus here...please don't house those snakes together for both their sakes as well as yours.

We have two ball pythons that have seperate enclosures. We have seen so much talk about this concept of seperation we decided to see what does indeed happen. We took them both out and placed them near each other. Immediately you could see the smaller ball become stressed....a definite "freezing" behaviour....muscles obviously tightening in what I assume was a flight or fight response. It was so very very obvious the smaller snake was afraid (in whatever sense a snake feels instinctive fear).

We of course immediately seperated them. The older snake had actually paid little to no attention to the smaller younger one. This "test" lasted perhaps seconds but drove home to the point to us that these snakes just simply don't need each other or want anything to do with each other except during mature, breeding activities.

By the way, before anyone thinks I would have risked Baby or Punkin be aware both Mike and I were inches from them (one of us responsible for each snake) and quite prepared to get bitten rather than see either of them bite the other. Baby (the younger snake) immediately began to act "normal" as soon as Punkin was removed from the area.

We tried this to see basically what does happen and determine whether it was advisable to have both snakes out to be handled at the same time in the same area (as in if the kid's each wanted to hold a snake or some such situation).
