I feel so bad....

Ok, my day started out great. Been up since 4 AM... got things done around the house.. then had to run a few errands... that when my day went to pieces..

How you ask?

Well, got into my bronco, like I always do, put the key in the ignition, put on my seat belt, and fired up the bronco to hear loud freaky noise under the hood (here I am freaking out a bit thinking, "oh no, please dont break down old girl~ been nothing wrong with you up to this point")... turned it off, popped the hood, I killed a kitten that must have gotten up in the engine compartment over night. I feel so bad. I cried the whole time I was picking up its body and digging a hole for it....

Makes me so mad that ppl have to let cats/kittens run loose for things like this to potentially happen. It is not fair to them, mind you, I am not a huge cat fan, we have had our share over the years, but still, they do not deserve to be left to run the streets and fend for themselves.

Wow, that's a terrible start to the day.

I know exactly how you feel. There is a leash law in our town for dogs.
I'm not sure about cats, but I know that they can't be let out to wander w/ out supervision. Oour neighborhood is so littered w/ wandering pet cats that my parents (they only live one block away:eek: ) and some other neighbors have resorted to getting live traps from Animal Control. Cats get trapped unharmed, Animal Control picks them up, and the owners have to pay big fines.
the best thing is, that if Animal Control gets them, the owner has to register and spay/nueter them.
Just like your "incident", many years ago, my grandmother had a cat crwwl into
her enigine compartment and have a litter of kittens. Sad to say, none of them survived the power of that Chevy.
Just remember, things will ALWAYS get better. Sometimes it just seems to take a long time.

Oh Jeanne you poor thing! What an awful thing to have to deal with!

We have a feral breeding female cat living in the forest beside our house, plus at least one of her now grown kittens from last year and likely a new litter hidden somewhere. It's so sad and frustrating because animal control here won't do a thing to help and live trapping is impossible as we have so many skunks, possums, raccoons, etc. I'd more likely get one of those rather than the cat.

I hate to think what their futures are too and it is frustrating. I'm sorry you had to deal with the result of someone turning out a cat or not bothering to spay/neuter.

I know how you feel. It happens hear at my place a couple of times a year. We live just a block away from a grain mill and if you know about grain mill's you know that they have lots of cats to keep the mouse and rat population down. I have resorted to banging on the side of my truck when I am going to go somewhere to hopefully alert them to get the heck out, but every now and then one does not head the warning.
