    Unhappy Jeff Corwin show

Now normally I'd don't really care for Jeff Corwin (heck I cheer for the animals over Jeff usually LOL) but the show I'm currently watching as I type is just....appalling!

It's a show on the illegal (or at the very least immoral) trade in animal body parts in Cambodia for it seems mostly "traditional medicine" uses.

I am truely sickened. He bought for $100 American the bodies or body parts of 7 animal species...from full bodied snakes...to tiger fat....to tortoise shells....and on and on. Apparently even otter penis is considered a cure for something! An otter penis for gawd sakes!

In Canada we have an awful problem with black bears being slaughtered for their gall bladders. A beautiful bear lost for a stupid belief that it's gall bladder can actually make someone healthy or more sexually potent or lord knows what!

I'm sorry for this rant. I know this has gone on for centuries and it shouldn't upset me so very much, but it has. I don't mean to look down on anyone's cultural belief system but....this is so very sad, such a waste.

The last bit I'm watching now they just found the skins of 3 reticulated pythons in an animal dealers place....2 smaller pythons....one that was obviously fully mature and of breeding age....apparently they are worth about $40 US *sigh*

Darn I missed the that part. Got distracted by one of the kids and missed the end of the show. Glad to hear he found something alive to release.
