has anyone heard about those plastic containers called critter keepers I seen a big one and was wondering if it can be used for small ball pythons

The lids on them don't seem very secure... how many gallons is the biggest one? You can start with a 10gal if you really need to, for a baby ball, but you're going to have to upsize QUICK. 30gal seems to be the minimum recommended size for adults, and I don't think they make Critter Keepers quite that big. So I guess it's up to you if you want to spend the money, only to have to spend more money on a bigger setup in the next few months...

in gallons I'm not sure but they are 17''L12''w8''h the only reason I ask is because my bp collection is starting to grow

i gotta 40gal breeder tank by critter keeper, but its a glass aquarium. i have my burm in it right now. i would try to avoid them though, the tops are cheap (at least on mine)

I agree I just replaced my last critter keeper, they arent bad for lizards but IMO the tops are too weak for larger snakes that it can house my BP was always pushing on it and I was worried he might break the screening free. I have seen the pics of a burm that broke out of one at 5' in length.

I personally would go with a large Sterilite or RubberMaid tub before I would use a critter keeper. Probably cheaper too.

The 96 quart Sterilite is 30x12 (floor space) and cost $8 at Wal-Mart. That should hold you over for a while.

Ultimately it's your call, you just need to make sure that at a length of 17", there's enough room to thermoregulate and get the right temps on both ends of the tank.
