new cage for ginger
Well I ordered my new animal plastics T10 cage with belly heat, sliding doors, door lock and White fluorescent fixture. I will be using a Johnson’s control thermostat to control the temp. (48x24x15) should be about 4 weeks till I get it. Once I have it setup ill see what the temps get to as is. If I need to I will add a radiant heat panel to the top of the cage if I can’t get the hot side temp right. (before moveing ginger to her new home)

Sounds nice. I am hoping to get a animal plastics rack soon. *keeping fingers crossed* I'm sure Ginger will love her new house!

Just out of curiosity...as I have a "free" checking coming up next month (one where no rent or bills are due...happens twice a year)...how much did all that cost you? (I'm too lazy to go to the AP site right now).

Re: new cage for ginger
i think home made enclosures are really really cheap if you know what u are doing. i spent $100 on wood and stuff and made a very nice 4x2x2. and could have even went bigger for just a lil more if you are handy or know some one that is handy then home made enclosures are a good way to go (not to knock on any body that uses or sells rubber mades, glass, racks, boaphile, etc.)just thought i would add my two cents.

Re: new cage for ginger
I am handy, and have a full wood working shop, I even have jigs that can do dovetail joints. But I have little free time. Wood is not really suited to high humidity and water. I was thinking of building the cage out of plywood and covering it with counter top laminate and sealing everything. But then the price would have been almost as high as what I did spend. 361.00 US including shipping. I purchased the Johnson’s a419 thru controlsdepot.com for 52.00 shipped and wired it using oh hand supplies and a heavy duty 3 plug strip from sears for 5.00 thermostat total cost 57.00 I misplaced my camera once I have every thing set up I will post some pictures. (When I find my camera)
361.00 for the cage with sliding doors, lights, and heat built in.
57.00 For the thermostat. +25 for a night drop experiment 82.00
Total 443.00 yes it’s a lot but this is her home for her life which will be 20+years imp hoping. Next an a20 in March and a GTP or gtb which ever is available at the time. Personally I like the pythons better.
Im not married I own my own home not an apartment and im a network/systems engineer. With too many hobbies and not enough time. My weekends are filled with striping paint off my windows and priming them as long as its not to humid or hot. Once that is done im planning on building a good size deck off the back of my house.

Re: new cage for ginger
I love my animals. Have a dog (Cleo) 2 cats. And ginger my ball. Once I spent over 650 trying to save a kitten that died regardless midnight I really loved him. he used to get on my head board and jump on my face (no claws never once scratched me) to wake me up in the morning you know "hey wake up its time to feed me" anyway I don’t like to mess around when it comes to taking care of one of my pets. I think if there’s two ways to do something cheap or pay a bit more and get something neat well constructed and perfect for my needs. Then I’ll throw the money at it. By the way this was my free check period. So I had the extra cash and I was also saving to do this. The basic cage with out the options would have been 235 +about 40.00 to ship.
