    my BP likes cooler temps...hmmmm???

now that i have had my bp for 4 weeks i am starting to see a few paterns and what she prefers. one is that she doesnt seem to spend much time in areas of the tank that are over 90 F. I keep her cool hide around 82 F and her hot hide varies somewhat. if it is above 90 F she hardly ever is in there, but if it is around 89 she will. i had been keeping her hot hide around 92 - 94 but i dropped it to see what would happen and she has been using it. i do keep a basking area of 92 - 94 F whch is outside the hot hide. maybe its her preference but if it is, i will still offer her temps above 90 F if she chooses to want it.

Every snake is different. Since they cannot tell us what they like, all we can do if offer them all of the temperatures that they need to be healthy!!!

Baby is like that a bit....if the temps inside her warm side hide go even 1 or 2 degrees above what she likes she books for the cool side or curls up behind her warm hide or around her water bowl or slung over one of her two cage decorations.

Soon as the temp is back to her "liking", she's back curled up in her warm hide.

Geesh for the life of a snake! LOL

Re: my BP likes cooler temps...hmmmm???

I've noticed one of my males all curled up in his water bowl with just his head sticking out twice in the last two days. I don't often see them doing that, so I wonder what brought that on. Then today after he ate, and I put the water bowl back in, clean and fresh, he dunked his head under the water, from outside it, and swished it back and forth a few times, came up for air, and then did it again! I don't really understand, but they are entertaining.

ha ha...the weird behaviors of our bps. My female loves the warm side. She is on it 24/7 from what I can tell....and my male likes to hide under the newspaper on the cool side? ha ha...my temps are great and he has hides...but he loves being under the newspaper on the cool side

It's funny how they can be. You'd think they were cats with how finicky they can act sometimes!
